I wonder if I put a few words here?

Module 5: Generative AI and Evaluating Content and Tools for Learning

ChatGPT is a familiar AI platform. I tried to register and use ChatGPT. I think overall it’s a very powerful tool, and I started by asking it some simple questions, like if I wanted to go snowboarding, what gear would I need? I think the answer he gave is perfect, and the list of equipment is also very detailed, even including a lot of equipment that people don’t usually use, such as ski backpacks and protective gear. But it is worth mentioning that when he listed the backpack, he specifically emphasized that it can hold water and snacks. I felt that these equipment were a bit cumbersome, so I further asked, if I don’t go backcountry skiing, but only in the ski resort, what equipment do I need? It didn’t give me the very streamlined gear list I expected, except for excluding protective gear. I think this answer is a bit too rigid, so I’m not particularly satisfied. I then asked again, if I have purchased skis, how do I install them? He seemed more familiar with the problem and gave very detailed answers with further explanations for each step. What makes me quite satisfied is that when he mentioned Positioning, his answer was like this: “Determine your stance width and angles before attaching the bindings. Your stance width is the distance between your bindings, and your stance angles refer to the angle at which your feet are positioned on the board. You can adjust these settings based on your riding style and preference.” (“I just bought”). It not only explains what you need to pay attention to when installing, such as stance width and stance angle, but also explains the definitions of stance width and stance angle. It also takes into account that everyone’s body structure and habits may be different, so he also stresses the need to make adjustments based on individual circumstances. I followed up on this point and asked it how to determine stance width and stance angle, and its answer was also very valuable. When I asked some more professional questions later, its answers did not have any big principle issues, and in order to avoid errors as much as possible, almost every answer included “you can adjust your bindings accordingly” and “tance”. setup may evolve as you gain experience and refine your riding style”. (“that is really”).

I think based on my practical experience above, the accuracy of learning objects created by artificial intelligence is still very high, and errors that may be caused by individual differences or other reasons are also taken into account. Through SECTIONS Model analysis, ChatGPT does not have strict requirements for students. Anyone with free access to the Internet can learn knowledge through ChatGPT. But it also brings obstacles. For example, we cannot be 100% sure that the answers obtained through ChatGPT will always be true. In terms of usage, I think ChatGPT is very easy to use. Its degree of intelligence makes it very easy to use. I don’t think too much training is needed. Students and teachers can also use artificial intelligence to help improve efficiency. The cost of developing ChatGPT is not low, but currently this artificial intelligence platform still provides a free version, and you can register for a free account. I think the time cost depends on different situations. For example, if we are not 100% sure that the answer is correct, we may need to spend more time thinking and verifying. Regarding teaching, I think ChatGPT has more room for improvement. First of all, ChatGPT is just a large language model, and the content required for good teaching often does not know the language, but more pictures, videos, real case demonstrations, and interactions with students. I think ChatGPT is not particularly outstanding in teaching, but it can be used as a very good auxiliary tool. I tried to ask ChatGPT to give a skiing course schedule. I think it can reasonably plan the teaching content and arrange the teaching steps. Language models can provide a certain degree of interaction, but I think these interactions are passive.

In terms of education, I think we are in an era of change now. The emergence of ChatGPT is indeed a challenge to the existing education system. For example, students may use artificial intelligence to cheat, leading to academic integrity problems, or students may blindly believe in artificial intelligence answers when they do not have critical thinking skills, leading to problems with the content. misunderstanding. I think simply prohibiting students from using artificial intelligence is not effective. Artificial intelligence is a powerful tool, and we cannot avoid the continuous development of artificial intelligence or the use of artificial intelligence as an aid by students. The ultimate goal is to enhance students’ understanding of artificial intelligence and let students understand how to correctly use artificial intelligence as an auxiliary tool to improve efficiency. In the next two to three years, artificial intelligence is destined to continue to advance and even surpass humans in some aspects. We need to view artificial intelligence rationally, formulate corresponding rules and regulations for its use, and continuously improve it. At the same time, we also need to be alert to the threats that artificial intelligence brings to mankind.

Hi Tim, you use ask there about the suitability of skiing to see the accuracy of ChatGPT. You mentioned that the information he answered was informative and demonstrated its potential to be a valuable learning tool. Of course it also has a few instances where it doesn’t meet the needs. Your reflection on the tool I think is spot on, Chatgpt is just a tool to view most of the information, but it doesn’t have the potential to be a stand alone solution. It can be used for planning courses and can give students a better learning experience. As AI continues to evolve, thoughtful integration into education is critical, with a focus on ethical considerations, regulatory frameworks, and ongoing evaluation of its impact on teaching and learning. By using AI as a tool to enhance the educational experience while guarding against potential risks, educators can harness its potential to drive innovation and improve learning outcomes. Thank you for sharing.

Hi, you tried out ChatGPT and liked how detailed it was, especially with the snowboarding gear list. You noticed it suggested a lot, even things not everyone uses, like ski backpacks. When you asked for simpler advice for just resort skiing, it still gave a pretty big list, which was more than you wanted. But, when you asked how to set up your skis, ChatGPT’s advice was spot-on and very detailed, which you found helpful. It’s cool that ChatGPT can give so much information, but sometimes you might need to pick and choose what’s best for you. Your experience shows that ChatGPT is a big help for learning and answering questions, but we should always think about the answers we get and make sure they’re right for us. You think ChatGPT can be even better for teaching and learning, but we also need to be careful about how we use it.
